I have a green milli that I've had for over a year. It never really grew until about two months ago. Well it shop up about ten new stems and the polyps were long and always out. all of the sudden it closed up and hasn't opened in about three days. the only thing I've added is Feather Caulerpa Algae to the refugium. Am i taking too much out of the tank and maybe running too clean? phosphates are 0.

Do you know what the levels were before you added caulerpa. Phosphates at zero but what are the nitrates

I was under impression too clean water or lower par levels equals more polyp extension. Since polyps reason to be extended is to capture food. It you have more nutrients in water or high par levels the polyps do not need to come out as often. Food source is abundant.

I hope someone posts if my thinking is wrong.

I'll have to test when I get home. I tested before my water change Monday and there was no sign of trates. The tank is looking good the only corals that have me worried are the green milli and a red planet. the red planet looks good except for its base. its seems to be loosing some color. could it be from being blocked from light? the milli has lost the hairy look and lost some color. I'll try to get some pics tonight. I removed the macro algae for the night to see if I see any changes.

display tank is a
35gal deep blue
radion gen 3
filter is a
55 gal tank converted to refugium
3 inch sand bed
chiller
skimmer
led lighting
