Here is a pic of a green monti cap I got as a quarter size frag a few months ago. It is growing, super slowly, and keeps looking like it is receding, then comes back, then recedes, then comes back... the edges grow, so it is adding size. My red cap is growing like gang busters. But this guy seems to be trying to decide to kick the bucket or grow each day... Are the green type just harder to keep?

Temp: 78.6f average (no more than about +/- .5f swing per day)
SG: 1.025
Ammonia: 0
no3: 0.25ppm
po4: 0.01ppm
calcium: 400
alk: 7.6 (been dosing for a couple weeks to slowly build this up, had dropped to around 6.5)
mag: 1280
ph: 8.2

I took the pic in the blue lights so you could see the flesh. It mostly looks solid green during the daylights, but the blues show the new growth best.

Any thoughts?

Its difficult to tell with the actinics but I think its doing fine. Its probably getting used to your tank and the only thing I would consider is ALK (which I can tell your on top of now), and nutrients. Make sure to feed heavy and a variety diet to supplement the low nutrients ( I use reefroids, reef chilli, phytoplanton, acropower, mysis, and Larrys reef frenzy food). At this point do NOT do anything drastic to the tank parameters which could end up skrewing up your gangbuster Monti cap growth. Only thing I would consider is look at lighting and perhaps move it if its getting too much light.. But then again since its having periods of growth then no growth it could just be linked to parameter instability. Best of luck
