Bought a rock of palys yesterday and noticed that when they settled in there colors aren’t all the same. Thought this was a rock of nuclear death paly but the dark green ones are throwing me off. Are the darker ones a different type of paly or is it possible that those are nuclear and losing their color???

There are 2 different paly's there. The darker greyish/blue ones grow very quickly and can take over rockwork in time if allowed. I'd keep that piece separated from your main rock work.
Any idea the name of the ones that are the duller/darker green?

They are called Zoantharia Sphenopidae Palythoa

"Nuclear Green Palys" are arbitrary and stupid, made up by people and coral vendors to entice sales. These were the first coral I ever had, that my mom purchased for my birthday about 20 years ago when she found out I was staring at smelly liverock from halfway across the world, all night. The original colony is still on the liverock they came on. I don't doubt that some of the original ones are still alive, seeing as how scientific studies of coral have found they don't get cancer and can only die from nutrition, predation or disease.

I learned quite fast that I should place these 'weeds' on an island, because they will multiply rapidly. Even so, I see a random polyp somewhere else in the tank, so always be on your guard! This photo of the lone green paly was found across the tank from the original colony after 20 years! I have placed them in a frag tank since then, for fear that they become a plague like aiptasia or xenia. I've had to kalk slime some other random pop-ups. But this one I'll leave alone because it's cute. Anyway, it's under the protection of my wife and my mom so I can't really do anything anyway. :)

I think fish farmer was joking about the name 'texas trash' :p
It shouldn't matter what coral vendors named them, except for Zoantharia Sphenopidae Palythoa. Take care of them and maybe you can show them to your grandchildren one day. These 'weeds' have an endearing place for me and might as well for you. I don't care what people think. Don't be influenced by what people say or how they judge your corals that you like.

It's a good coral to start with. If they stay alive in your tank, then you are progressing well! Think of them as canaries in the coal mine. They will be the last to die. If they die, then there is something dire that needs to be rectified ASAP.

I see them sold as "Nuclear Green". Stupidest thing I ever heard. ;Woot

I had a small rock with a single polyp, surrounded by some of the brightest GSPs I’ve ever seen. The GSP contained the paly and made the small rock look like a Beholder from Dungeons and Dragons.
I should’ve never sold it…
Here’s an old picture. It’s in the bottom right corner, but the GSP isn’t fully extended. That single polyp stayed like that for over six months
