Green Rock

Is this normal to have such green on the rock? This is with white lights on only. For photo purpose only. I don't run white normally. It doesn't come off. It is not hairy. Second photo is with the blues on.

I’m not going to say it’s normal because I’ve seen other tanks that the rock looks white under daylight lighting. I will say all 300 lbs of my rock looks just like yours under white light only and has for 5 plus years in my tank. Someone once told me it was green coraline algae as I guess there’s more then just the purple most people talk about. Just don’t run your whites this way you don’t have to see it lol.

Thats like impressively green. Uniformly green. Wow, never seen that before.

What CuC do you have in the tank? Was this rock started as dry rock? Did you add any coraline boosters? How old is it?

Wow. Yeah I used the same product, I would say that it took about 6 months for my pink/purple to really take off.

Have you taken one of the smaller pieces out and tried to scrub some of it off? I will say my Marco Rock that I added to my system later has had nothing but algae issues.

It looks like around the sandbed the rock is white again, if you brushed sand off around the base is the rock white?

Mines mostly green, but a blend of green, orange and purple. Not solid bright green like yours. I think it looks cool. If it’s not a nuisance I wouldn’t worry about it.

I also used the bottles of pink and purple. It started quick but is slow to spread. I’m still mostly green.

The purple at the top is one of a couple pieces of live rock I added to my dry rock to try to jump start the cycling.
