I am trying to help somebody with their tank that is covered in what looks like cyano. I removed some of it and put it in a bag. After about an hour in the bag, the water begin to look like red food coloring was put in it. I am pretty sure this is cyano. However, green thin pieces of algae showed up after the red color dispersed in the bag. Is this cyano covering a green algae?

Why did you add it to the bag?

This thread will help you ID it

I didn't add anything to the bag…I believe the cyano started to breakdown and release the red dye.
