I purchased a green sinularia earlier today. Acclimated him and had him in the tank about 4 hrs ago. I placed him towards the top of the tank and he immediately started expanding with polyps! However he doesn't seem to be pointed 'up' but rather 'wilted'. Is this normal for an acclimating coral? Is he getting too much light/should I move him down? He has just enough flow so his branches sway gently. The flow is not pushing his branches down or anything. The toadstool frag I also added is thriving.

moderate indirect water flow(enough to move him abit lightly) and medium light . More white less blue too. You have him mounted/point side ways. Whole body should be point up from the base. :D:D:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Ah I just put him that way because that's how he was at the LFS and seemed to be doing well. So should I move him down and point his base up? The lights are quite blue because they're ramping down for the night.

Point him up and as I don't know your lighting, I would have him around 16-20" below lights. If your lights are bright, lower them and start the leather at bottom. You could also put layers of egg crate between light and coral too and over several weeks allow more light alittle bit at a time.

Thanks! I'm using Hydra 26's with the blues and violets at about 50% and whites at 20%. I'll move him down some and correct his base.

You can set it any way you want. It will correct itself over time. My neon green sinularia is in pretty decent flow and pretty high light. They can adapt to a wide range of conditions. I would just set it where you like it and give it a few days before deciding if it needs to be moved.

Darn I just moved him (I managed to convince myself it was too much light). But I like where he is now a lot more -- less naked looking lol. I won't touch it anymore so it can acclimate. Sounds like it just needs more time; I was just shocked at how quickly the toadstool acclimated compared to this one.

Thanks everyone :)
