Has anyone had issues with AEFW and green slimer? I have AEFW and plan on dipping all my acro frags. The only problem is that I have a green slimer encrusted heavily on a rock that cannot be removed. Wondering if it’s worth the effort to dip all other acros except the green slimer and possibly eliminate AEFW from my tank.

Hmmm, what about the eggs?
This is a multi-dip endeavor.
Have you used the search button for aefw and remedies?

Indeed did a lot of searching and have been trying to treat it with KZ flatworm stop. Acros are recovering but spotted them again today on a particular acro. I do plan on doing a 6 weekly dip endeavor, but the issue is with the green slimer and the fact that it is encrusted. My hope is that I have a variety that doesn't prey on green slimer so I can dip the rest of the other frags. I'm just curious if people have seen flatworms not attack green slimer to confirm if this path is worth it.

Can you lower the water level, spray the slimer with KCL solution, and then refill the tank?

With KCL is it a 3 or 4 week treatment if it’s in tank?
4 x treatments, 3 weeks apart. 3 weeks timeframe *should* give all eggs sufficient time to hatch, but not for any of the hatchlings to reach sexual maturity. I literally have to drain 80% of the water out my tank to spray all my Acro’s, it’s a PITA but it’s worth it because it works!

If you're going to do it...do it all. Don't skip anything...especially a green slimer. That thing grows fast anyways. Make sure you kill any encrustation on the rock left over if removed. You can try the spray but I wouldn't wait more than 2 weeks between treatment if not every week for 4 weeks.

As said above, every polyp of Acropora needs to be treated or killed before treatment. I had AEFW come in on a green slimer frag. When I noticed several Acropora had it I made the decision to treat. This involved pulling every colony out of my 500 gallon display including the rock it was attached to, dipping, and then placing it back in the spot it came from. Did this once a week for 4 weeks. Anything I couldn’t get out of the display, was broken off its base and super glued over the encrusted area. Been AEFW free for a year now.

Thanks for the responses all. I decided to cut the green slimer off, kill all encrustment, and do KCL dips. I’m already past week 7 of dipping. No signs of AEFW anymore. Im about to finish 3 weeks of no dipping and will dip one more time to see if dipping everything was successful before mounting. It sucks, but it’s worth it.
