Green slimer..where can you get one?

Looking for a green slimer and can't find one at any of the online stores I watch. Anyone know where you could get one? Are there other colors in the slimers? I like the thick long branched growth of these to contrast some of my other SPS. Would like two or three if I can find them.

Geez I see slimers everywhere but not on line much. I trim mine all the time and just toss it cause no one ever wants it! I agree though I like the way it grows.

There is a blue slimer and a purple slimer also. Not the same species as the green slimer but they have similar traits. I've never had the blue slimer. The purple slimes and stinks just like the green!

The green slimer is Acropora yongei and the purple is an Acropra formosa. I'm not sure about the blue.

If you want to make a trip to DFW I have a lot I can frag. As well as others including blue tort.

There is a blue slimed that is a yongi, but I have trouble ever finding a piece. Divers den gets them every now and then.

Ive see the blue slimer online for 14.99 but I can not find the link. I bought a piece of purple slimer from GWs3 when he had a sale thread up. If you have a local club I would ask there I'm sure more then half have a piece of green slimer good luck

I have blue, green and purple and I'd agree they are different species but all share the nasty slime when you frag or touch them. I honestly think this is another one of those corals that the name gets thrown around and now everything similar gets called a slimmer, especially the green version.

I have a frag of the blue slimer i have been watching. I also have the green and i have the green with blue tip slimer as well. Sweet dominant growing pieces.

I agree with the name being thrown around with the green one.

Cultivated Reef has the blue and green slimers.

This looks like an acropora abrolhosensis, not an acropora yongei (green skimmer)

It slimes up like snot almost instantly out of the tank. Even tank touching it will make it slime like crazy.
Here is another pic of the same coral in the back of that tank.

What other Acro's are in the Family Acropora yongei ?

I really like my Green Slimer and want more similar Acros.

Do you have any "local" reef sites?

Here in Michigan we have captivereefs.com and michiganreefers.com

People are always selling Green Slimer on those two sites.

I feel that there are a couple reasons that you do not see Green Slimer online.

Grows Very Fast
Very Easy to Keep
Been Around Forever
Most everyone that keeps SPS already has it

I am guessing that all those 4 reasons combined keep the price very inexpensive (Some people throw it out because they cannot even give it away for free) (It is kind of like the Xenia of SPS I Guess).

And therefore Online sites do not sell it because they tend to carry more expensive corals that collectors are looking for.

It is one of my All-Time Favorite Corals though.

A Must Have in my Opinion.
