This green slimmer did this overnight. Any idea what may be wrong? No sign of distress from any other sps I have in tank. He has been in tank for a month or so and is in medium high light. So far all my parimeters are testing good.

If it was overnight it could be RTN. I know you said your parameters are all good, but to better help you we'd need some numbers posted. Along with what lighting you have and what flow you have him under.

Did you recently change flow or anything? That happened to me and killed one of my chunky pieces. Moved a powerhead and I thought it would love getting blasted but it RTNed the next day and I lost 90% of it, the rest died overnight. My next guess is alk spike/crash, Acropora are pretty reactive to those.

Hydra 52 h2 liighing using signature series program Dimitry Tumanov. Par at that area slimmer is in 275. I am going to retest everything with different kits I will post results as soon as I finish. Thank you for your help, by the way

Yes As a matter of fact, 2 days ago I had a snail jamm upmy gyre 250 which the slimmer is close to. I may have changed out direction when I put it back together, was just guessing. However it is at 30 percent power and I can’t detect much water force at slimmer. But not ruling it out.
Test results
Po4 0.04
Nitrate 0.00
Cal 400
Ph 7.9
Dkh 8.6
Temp 78.6
Mag 1420
Sh 1.024
All fish seem normal so I did not test Amonnia or nitrite.

Why did you not test for ammonia and nitrates?

How often do you test and do you record your results? Id be curious to know how long you've been registering 0.00 nitrates? What test kit are you using for nitrates? My hunch (and its just that) is that with .04 PO4 but 0 NO3 it could be a nutrient issue. Couple that with the possible change in flow pattern and you could easily have a ticked off acro. I've upset (read killed) many by seemingly doing less!

good luck!

Being honest I only test maybe 2 times a month, except alk and cal which I have tested daily for over a week, for I was adjusting doser and wanted to make sure both parrimetes were not moving since the adjustment over a week ago. I have been. Registering O nitrates since cycle finished in September. At one time they went to 10 or 15 ppm for a week, but I concluded it was caused by 5 decaying fish that died from ich and into rook work. But after that it has been at 0 for a good 2 months. I do try to over feed, add a supplement broadcast feed with reef roofs, oyster feast, roe, Otto pheast, reef frenzy, and fuel. Turn off pumps and let the water suspend the food over coral for about 1 hour 3 times a week. I scaled back my skimmer to almost no production in cup just throat. I use Red Sea pro test kits and api, for nitrate. Phosphate I have Hanna ppb and Red Sea.

Wait wait wait...0 nitrates? That can't be right

All I have to test with is a Red Sea pro test and api , and both indicate 0. I have ordered a salferit nitrite test from brs, but it has not arrived.

Hope not to jinks the slimmers recovery, however I cant see much more tissue loss from yesterday. Perhaps it was just the flow that caused it. Now I know I should pay closer attention to settings on the gyre, that even flow matters.

Is it just me or are there a few others that looks like they’ve lost some tissue as well?

No your right, large pred acro also missing some tissue, but I still think it was from the flow, I could be completely wrong. I will keep monitoring and posting updates. I do appreciate everyone’s help.

It's not from flow, I have a green slimer that because of how it's grown it get blasted by 2 power heads and it grows fast and polyps are thick. I would look closely for something eating them or some param keeps fluctuating causing the tissue loss.
