Hi everyone! I have a 24 gallon cube reef tank with a lot of soft corals, a yellow coris wrasse and two clowns (along with hermit crabs and turbo snails)...but I desperately want to add a green spotted puffer. I've read a lot of stuff online, much of it being against having a puffer in a reef tank but some saying that it works fine for them. I'm attaching a picture of my tank to this post. Based on what I have in the tank, is there any way I can have a green spotted puffer? I don't want him to nibble my corals, but I had one for a brief time as a little kid and have been wanting one again ever since. I just love that little puffer smile!! Please share your advice and experiences....

If I am thinking of the right species....aren't Green Spotted Puffers fresh to brackish water fish (depending on age)? Regardless, most, if not all puffers will eat inverts (snails, shrimps, etc.)

I had a v. Puffer and it was a nightmare. It ate corals and terrorized everyone in the tank. it was a cool fish to have a watch. Probably best for fish only tanks and most need at least 30g + tanks anyway

They will devour snails, hermits, ect. They can, over time be adjusted to marine conditions. I kept one for years in a brackish tank by its self. Personally I wouldn't keep one in a 24 gallon tank. They are constantly on the move.
