So I have 2 brackish puffers a gsp and a topaz. I'm worried they are 7-8 years old I know this because I had them since 2011. I'm very worried my gsp is about to die of old age. Maybe someone on here knows just a lil bit more then me. She is at the bottom of the tank in the corner. Normally she's swimming having a blast he with her boyfriend. 1st picture is tonight 2nd is from 2011. If I lose her I'll probably lose my head. They are my babies. Is this a sign of dying? Parameters are 0 ammonia 0 nitrates 0 nitrites 8.3 ph . I know thier life span is 10 years.

Unfortunately father time catches all. 7-8yrs is a good run. You've taken good care of them.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, do you still have them in brackish or are they in a full marine environment? I know that a big part of their life cycle is coming into the freshwater estuaries to spawn and returning to the oceans once they are done. I don't know if they need these fresh to salt swings to ensure maximum life span or if they will live their full life span in full salt. If they're still in brackish then maybe you could try acclimating her to full salt and see if that doesn't turn her around but as eatbreakfast said, father time is undefeated and 7-8 years ain't nothing to sneeze at considering most people put green spotted's in freshwater and they're dead in a month.
