I thinking of having the entire back of my tank's glass full of Green Star Polyps, such that it covers the entire back wall - wondering if this is a bad idea, and what challenges would I be facing.

Or for those that have done it, please do share some pictures.

Thanks

A friend of mine did it on a 40 gallon aio. The only things were rock can’t touch the back glass and gsp would grow over the overflows and had to be trimmed. With that being said , I really liked the look.

Works great, just super glue it mid to lower so it grows up toward the lighting I had it on my old tank it’s not hard to trim either

Thanks - should I place the GSP towards the middle of the tank, and maybe 1 inch above the substrate?

There's also different shades of GSP as well - some darker green, and some more of the glow neon type. Can't imagine how each will look, and if one would look better than the other.

that’s preference on shades I had neon and looked awesome but once it starts it will spread it just tends to spread faster toward the light going upwards but you can always let it do it’s thing and frag it again to put in other spots of the wall which u prob won’t have to. Def notice if flow or anything is off usually will be one of the first corals to close up to let u know something’s off and flow you can see it’s back n forth patterns kind of like a guide on helping you set up the flow of the tank

You can see it in the back

I have the back wall of my 125g covered in gsp, and I regret doing it. Its hard to get to the area behind my aquascape and because of that I have allowed the gsp to start growing on the backside of my aquascape.
I know that at some point in the future I will end up with gsp covering everything in my tank.

Ya… I honestly don’t think it can take over other corals that are existing but.. ya I do agree having it accessible on the back wall without any rock work in the way makes trimming and maintaining it a heck of a lot easier

Nothing really, I keep mine covered. My Redsea was almost completely covered before the seam broke. I took what I could scrape off and glued it on the new tank, it has almost completely covered the overflow in three months.
