From the pics its hard to tell, and its prob also still adjusting to your lighting. What are the stats on your system, tank, light, water params, etc. As far as if its a good deal, thats totally dependant on your local reef economy. In some areas people get ricordias for 4 bucks and other areas for the same ricordia its 25 bucks.

Oh I have power compact lighting on a 45 gallon reef tank all parameters are good and I do weekly water changes the only thing is I have to lower the nitrates and phosphates the nitrates are at 15ppm and idk about phosphates but I know that there has been a
big algae outbreak in the tank lately and I have been trying to get a phosphate reactor soon

Very few people use this formula nowadays, for numerous reasons,but when it comes to lighting(using p.c.'s in your case),3-5 watts per gallon is a good rule of thumb...By the way, check out how much some online dealers want for a frag of green star polyps....crazy, considering the stuff grows like wildfire...Id say u got a good deal, and a good coral.

It looks like in the pics it might have hair algae growing on it? The upper part of the colony in the picture looks darker may want to pluck that off if it is, you wont really harm the gsp even if you rip off a small piece of it. Gsp is known to grow pretty fast and spread to anything it can touch so you may want to isolate it somwhere, other than that moderate flow and moderate lighting is best imo, but it will really grow in almost any condition light and flow wise.

I did alot of research on it before buying and I am having a algae outbreak so I think You are right about hair algae on it but to me it actually looks greener and healthier in person because I took the picture with my iPhone camera do you think a phosphate reactor would help reduce the algae in the tank?
