Hi people! Just a quick question about GSP.

Why is the mat of my GSP white and smooth rather than the purple bumpy mats I see most people have? Are they just different types of essentially the same thing or are they different species of coral that I should treat differently. I can't find much, if any, info on the difference!

Thanks!

There are different types of Briareum. The image does not looks like Sympodium or Clavularia. I would like to see a less blue top down image if able. The type of GSP I kept had a more pink then purple mat color.

Thanks for the quick reply mate! Ok, I've switched the blues off and taken this one, is that any better?

If it helps they almost glow luminous green under only blue lights.

Oh thanks, much better. :)

Yes that looks like just a different type of Briareum.

Cool, thanks! They seem happy enough and are growing quite quick so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing with them! They are spreading pretty quick and there's always a few small polyps appearing that don't seem to take long to grow to the same size as the bigger ones!

It feels great to see some of my Scottish friends on r2r(:

Haha thanks! It's a great forum, far better and less judgemental than any British forum I've been on, the only problem is when a really good piece of second hand equipment is up for sale or some nice coral sales are posted and I'm too far away to buy them[emoji35][emoji35]

Are you Scottish too?

I love Holland, was in Amsterdam again about two months ago! I'd happily live there if my missus was interested in moving away from here!! Where about in Scotland are you from?

Well .. erm ..don't hate me when I say this .... but my father was Scottish ... my mother was Irish ..... me I was born in Blackpool ..but ive been living just outside of Rotterdam for the last 20 years !:eek:

Haha your dad being Scottish definitely counts and makes you Scottish! My family history isn't as exciting unfortunately everyone was born and brought up in Edinburgh as was I! I live up in Inverness now though, the only downside being that I have one marine fish shop within about 60 miles of me!!

My dad was from Edinburgh , I've lived couple of years in kirkaldy ...my best mate was from Inverness .. I was there 3 years ago for his funeral .. I still talk with his sister who lives there !!

But it does surprise me that we can't get corals sent over !!! Ok might cost what ..I sit also on a dutch forum called dream reef .. there's lots of people I can get corals from so I guess I'm lucky ..

Sorry you're visit was for such an unhappy reason mate!

There's a few online companies in the uk that look ok but they refuse to deliver anything living up to the highlands which counts me out up here!!

Was your dad a football fan? Hibs or hearts? Bearing in mind if you say Hearts and then tell me you support them too this conversation ends here[emoji6][emoji23]

Nooooooo my father wasn't really a football fan ...and niether am I .. my sport was always martial arts ..

Haha fair enough. I'm a hibs supporter but most of the time I wish I'd been into something different like martial arts as they depress me so much. The drive back to Inverness on a Saturday after watching another defeat gets longer each week!

And after 20 years of martial arts it takes its toll on your body believe me .. everything comes back too haunt you !!!!

Haha I'm ever the optimist that we might be good again one day! I can only imagine what 20 years of martial arts can do to you. I guess none of our hobbies are without their downsides in the end. Especially reef keeping when I check the bank at the end of the month a look with one eye closed at what I've spent[emoji23][emoji23]
