Green stat polyps

Do green star polyps explode? I had one a 2 inches long on a rock.i had it for a few months. It had some red cyno on it at one end. I used some chemical to get rid of it .it did and then about 2 weeks later i noticed the polyps were gone.all that was left was purple on the rock. Now i notice individual polyps in the sand, on rock they are everywhere in the tank. Is this normsl?

It's common for the green polyps to retract leaving just the purple mat, but I've never heard of a GSP spreading any other way than the normal growth of the mat. Pics?

Red cyano rx. Wish i could figure out how to post a pic. The other gsp i have is still doing fine.i got them at the same time. If i look at the live rocks in the tank ,there is polyps in ever nook and cranny. They are tiny little stalks with the little brown flowers. None are on the white base.

Gsp can bail polyps

Here are the pictures. I used red cyano rx to kill the red cyano. The 2nd gsp i got is still fine. Are these gsp or something else. I have not added any rocks or decor only a couple of fish. I also notice 2 little red anemones.
