There is nothing preventing you from doing a 100% water change, rinsing out all the sand free of organic waste so there is nothing but sand grains and filter bacteria, no rot or ammonia, acclimate the fish back in and start brand new by tomorrow w a couple hours work and no mini cycle. Or you can wait x time for a natural reset, and keep all the waste in the tank for the next round.
Most choose the least work option and to keep the cloud going on purpose for a while or weeks.
If someone added a power head to my sandbed facing down, it would kick up sand grains that fall back down to the tank with no clouding. Its from doing the recent old tank cleaning mentioned above, took a few hours and reset my entire tank. You can do this any number of times and never have the slightest cycle, but only if you want it fixed by tomorrow. Again, since the rules of reefing say not to do this, the vast majority purposely want to see their tanks in this condition and will purposefully keep it that way a while. Having it clean by tomorrow with 100% nutrient export and no clouding and a perfect tank simply will not be chosen by 99% of reefkeepers and thats no prob at all. We each want different looks for our tanks.

See any thread where a tank was moved and the sb either changed out or rinsed. Those are all skip cycle, insta tanks. They broke reef rules too, but it was during a move so it was justified heh
