Green turf algae frustration!

I cannot tell you why this stuff comes abou
The number of tanks like yours Eric aaa featured in the linked threads above might be 10 or 20 from the rc example alone

In saying your tank can be fixed, that's coming from the after pics we collect.

Sea hares, urchins, tangs, all good natural options.

Actually fixing your tank includes more work beyond algae, to be done right. Your brief pics indicate eutrophication details such that detritus will be elevated and retained in this tank, have to remove it. The growths themselves hold much, and plug up the rock with detritus and reduce flow.

Thankfully it's easy to fix, no need for new rocks just some work. Same as the other outcomes linked. When made free of retaining growths the live rock will purge detritus a while and all that means is have the rest of the tank already free of waste so it won't compound and can be removed for a true fresh start.

t, but according to my experiences and what people have to say is it will never go away unless swap your rock, yes you could keep it in check but your going to have to keep a billion hermits, snails ect w.e eats it or just change your rock

Its not bryopsis the bottom picture is chrysophytes, was acually just talking about this in a thread sometime last week
Thank you so much you are one of the only people that recognized it as something more than just your run of the mill gha despite the crap quality of my phone camera i am running chemi pure blue wich contains a phosphate remover but it's not gfo I don't want to run gfo because I have been dosing red sea no3 po4-x and am going to continue using it until I run out then I'll probably just dose vinegar. I did get new rocks and it already got a small patch of the crap on it I will have more pictures tomorrow tank looks 10 x better now that I have it somewhat under control I'll just try to keep it that way. I did order 3 types of calp so that should help. I don't have a fuge but have had great success with calpuera in the tank before until gha took it over I removed everything from the tank except for my fish and coral. But thank you very much everyone keep the tips coming I really do appreciate it. I just joined today and already I am incredibly impressed with the hospitality of this place! ☺

Oh wow welcome to r2r lol didnt realize it and yea this is the best forum, theres a great team on here and real beyond wonderful what some people do here, btw i dont kno what that stuff thrives on either nd apparently noone knows so your tank can be sqweeky clean and still thrive just like bryopsis , its not reported deadly to inverts yet it looks so horrible so maybe try some snails

Glad to have a new member here :D. You did say it isn't GHA I'm just saying use similar methods is all .... I take care of a 380gallon system up the road that had a wirey green algae and the emerald crabs loved it ..... It's gone in that system. Took a lot of work though. Its fun sharing info :)

This is what it looks like today just one tiny piece of algae on my favorite rock of the course will just put some epoxy over it most likely. And like I said if I stay diligent my tank should stay like this. Oh by the way it's only a 10 gallon so that makes it harder

This is easy, take it out of the water, if it looks like you blew 10 pounds of snots on it then yup hench the name green slimer

No it doesn't produce any slime maybe a tiny bit but not anything noticeable. That's what leads me to believe it's not green slimer I'm not to concerned about it I would just like to know the correct species so I can care for it correctly since I know green slimer is one of the easiest to care for and this is not that species it is healthy and growing rapidly but better growth and color would be nice

Take a top down

what do you mean take a top down?
Sry about that, try to take a picture top down (edit) make sure the water is still or use a piece of clear plastic so you can get a picture from the top of the tank down to the bottom , to me it looks like a browned out bali shortcake but you dont see an acros full potential unless you look at it top down

Sincerely will do give me 5 minutes

Ok I took a few pictures one in the tank and the rest I pulled it out of the tank and snapped some.... And no slime either. The coral normally has a substantial bright green color probably because of I light my tank with LEDS and my actinic is turned up plus the coral was out of the tank as well Sorry about the

Ok thanks a million for everything I just wish it had the electric green fluorescence like most slimers I've seen but it's a beautiful specimen nonetheless my first acropora actually it's easier to care for then I've always heard I will wait to do more acropora though 10g is to small I'm saving up for a 40g custom. Well let me know If you ever have any questions maybe I could be some help I have been reefing for 15+years almost 20 and it's always nice to get someone else points of view and experience
