Hello, Been a successful 'freshwater guy' for many years and always aspired to keep a reef. After much information gathering both lurking here and various sites on youtube, I'm cautiously optimistic it will be (a lot of !) money well spent on the hobby/passion of aquarium keeping that I love.
Looking at reef ready style unit. possibly Red Sea xl 525. Gear list is in the works too.
Being retired, it will afford me the commitment of time to attempt to get it somewhat right!
With the 'Coronapocyplse' in full swing, travel is out of the question at this point which leads me to a future concern. My intention is to run as much of an automated system as possible but will eventually leave for a few weeks a year. Aside from a major catastrophic event, am I dreaming in technicolor to think I can safely leave my pets? or will I be housebound ? Not sure my wife will share that commitment... Could possibly get someone in to just check on things but they wouldn't have the skillset to do much else.
