Greetings!

After a little deliberation in trying to choose what hobby to invest in, I made the choice of reef aquariums. Back in 2000ish I had a brackish water aquarium, which I kind of just set up on my own, without any studying. I figured out that a Deep Sand Bed with an under gravel filter with minimal flow, seemed to work great. That brackish aquarium lasted about 6 years with minimal effort or housekeeping. Since then, I have been out of the hobby, having moved and relocated chasing the right career path. Only now, 12 years later, have I purchased a new tank, and am preparing to put some water in it, and see what I can do.

I am a Communications Sys Admin, but also have many other skills. Fairly well rounded. So systems, and do-it-yourself techniques are right up my alley. My plan is to focus on automation and telemetry to ensure a healthy beautiful tank with minimal upkeep. I've been reading a few books on the topic, and watching a few of the YouTube channels as well. I hope that these forums will be useful in answering other questions I may have.

Thank you :)
