I've had the idea to start a reef tank for a while. Originally the idea had been to start in freshwater then move to a reef tank to ease myself in but after I read up on it I decided that I'd jump straight to what I really wanted and go for the reef.

Still in the early planning stages of my first tank. Most I've got is a 100 to 200 gallons, medium high flow, and maybe a mix of SPS and LPS. I'm still doing a ton of research and I was wondering what you consider the best books on reef keeping?

Howdy and welcome to R2R. I like how you are thinking. ;Bookworm

@Finbar welcome! I’m from the western burbs and started a 120G reefer about six months ago. This place is a great source for advice and help. I wish I found it sooner. But one piece of advice. There are a lot of opinions on this board, and not always in agreement. So try to get to the facts and then make a decision based upon what will work for you. Enjoy!

Welcome to R2R!!! We’re glad you’re here!

Welcome from the far western burbs. Books are great, I have quite a few but the internet is more up to date so to speak. Start by looking on youtube. BRS( Bulk Reef Supply) puts out some good vids, so does Than from Tidal Gardens, Mark from Melev's reef, Reefs.com, etc.. I would suggest also to read "reef of the month" threads too. Find a tank you admire and emulate it, once you have some success then start changing things to make it more "you". The learning curve is steep, use and build on knowledge gained by others then branch out. Good luck and enjoy!
