Greetings from Greenpoint!

Hey Y’all,

My name is Chris - recently moved to Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Getting back into the hobby after being crammed into a tiny studio apartment. Looking to join a reef club in the greenpoint/NYC area. While I don’t have my tank setup YET! I want to get to know the local community and get ideas on how to sustain a reef in NYC. Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Glad you haven't purchased a tank "yet".

The first thing I recommend is to decide which fish you want to keep and then build you system around those fish.

Hi Dom,

Haha yes - since space is a premium for me I’m focused on the coral more so this time around. Previous tank I went for all Black/white fish so looking for pops of color/helpful fish for upwards of 60 gallon. Fingers crossed I can convince the GF.

Welcome! I used to live on Ft Hamilton! Maybe touch base with NYAquatic? They have sales on here from time to time. There may be a user group here for NYC, im not sure. I know there is one from westchester.
