:wave: Hi! I've been lurking around for awhile and finally decided I might as well register... then I might as well start posting. I belong to a few other boards but haven't really been active anywhere lately.

I've kept aquariums for 12-13 years now. Started with freshwater...in college I had to get a job taking care of research tanks to contain my MTS. Almost 3 years ago I was finally able to stop bouncing around from apartment to apartment and was finally able to set up my very own reef!

Currently, I have a 55 mixed reef (started as FOWLR, that didn't last long) with zoas, palys, hydnophora, euphyllia, toadstools, GSP, blue anthelia, hairy mushrooms, hollywood stunner chalice, and orange psammacora. Fish: 2 clowns, 1 indigo dottyback, and I've just added a pair of diagonal bar gobies. 4 bulb AquaticLife fixture with ATI bulbs (2 blue+, purple+, coral+)

Couldn't resist and I turned my 14 hex betta tank into a nano shroom garden with rics and regular shrooms with 12in Wavepoint Microsun blue/white LEDs. Has 1 gold striped goby. Well, hubby says after our floors are replaced next month I can trade the 14 hex for a 45gal JBJ rimless as long as I set it up for sea horses (he picked the tank). Now I've got some gorgonians and macros in there as well to get seahorse ready. :) I've hinted for a 90 to replace the 55 since I have to break it down for the flooring install...but I suspect that's not going to happen. But he has said not to sell off the 14 or my other empty 55 from tearing down my last freshwater tank. Never fear, I have 2 more small FW tanks in my classroom... I do *not* have a problem.

Welcome! Let see some picks of your tank!

Welcome to the forum! Always great to have some more girl reefers on board :) there is another girl reefer that has set up a beautiful seahorse tank and is now raising some fry - her name is vlangel. Would love to see some pictures of your tank/s!

Thanks! I'll do a build thread when I get started on the seahorse tank for sure.
here is a cell phone pic of the 14.

And the 55 (ignore the massive bryopsis growth)

Welcome! Great looking tanks!

If you haven't already, check out our local club NCMAS.org. We have meetings every month or 2 with presentations on different topics each time. In January we will be having a talk and demo on how to setup and program a reef controller. If anything, it's a great way to meet locals who are just as crazy about the hobby.

*Welcome to Reef2Reef!* It is wonderful that you are running aquariums in your classroom.I am certain your students appreciate it,maybe a few will join this forum someday!
