Howdy Folks!

I'm a soon to be grad-student from southern Wisconsin looking to stop lurking and finally start my first reef (eventually... grad-school and floor space don't mix).

However, I did take advantage of the BRS Black Friday sale to pick up an IM 30L seeing as I had the funds, and while I don't have the space to start up a tank, I do have the ability to accumulate equipment for later.

I'll probably ask a bunch of questions over the coming months as I begin to finalize a plan for the tank out of the list of species I'm interested in.

Thanks for stopping by!

Oh... I should probably mention that while I do have some experience maintaining my Dad's planted freshwater setups. He didn't do anything high-tech, and from what I've read reefing is a bit different from Neon Tetras, Cory's, and Anubias Nana. Don't be afraid to be harsh if I end up doing something horrifically wrong, ultimately I just want to keep everything healthy and happy at a minimum.

How many Doryfish can I fit in a 30L?

Check out wisconsin reef society for local reefer get togethers and local aqua cultured corals. Most of the get togethers are around Milwaukee.

I love r2r for the activity but the local forums are really good for get togethers, etc. I highly recommend Best Fish in Milwaukee if you are looking for a great local fish store too!

Welcome fellow southern Wisconsinite.
I loved my Corycat’s but I went to Saltwater three years ago and haven’t looked backed
Take it slow and learn learn and ask a zillion questions and you’ll be fine

Welcome to R2R!

I'm on the SE WI bandwagon too - Menomonee Falls (Milwaukee Suburb).

+1 on checking out WRS - our February meeting is in ~4 weeks, you should stop by and meet some other locals.
+1 on BestFish - very helpful and knowledgeable owners/staff and I've always been delighted with their livestock.
