Greetings, I've been in the hobby since 2001... over the last few years I was working from home and playing super dad while running around 1,000 gallons between frag systems, broodstock tanks for clowns, phyto & rotifer culters and my displays. After my kids started school I went back to punching the clock for someone else and started dialing back the systems due to lack of time, then tragedy struck last year when a PM skimmer pump burned out (A replacement after their first burned out but I caught that one in time, never again Precision Marine, you're dead to me, especially after the lack of customer service) fouling my water and took down about 10 grand in coral for the three frag tanks sharing that sump. After running through the neighborhood naked declaring shenanigans while cursing at the ocean gods and owner of PM, I composed myself and began selling off the remaining livestock (after they recovered) and tore down and sold all of my tanks and gear, minus the pieces I held back for this build. I know I can't be without a reef but have to keep it small with ease of care in mind, so I am doing a little 40 breeder build in the man cave... going with an exposed sump for easy maintenance, large return pump for flow so I don't need any powerhe.... eh, if you want to know more, come follow my build.
