Hiya from WA state! A friend of mine had bought a 23-gallon cube tank for a friend of hers who had been wanting a reef tank. Friend then moved to an apartment where he couldn't have it, so it went to live at my friend's house. Dude never came to take care of it and my friend decided it was more than she signed up for, so she passed it on to me! Score!

It's in rotten shape. Everything was covered in sludge. It's got 2 rocks and some substrate (I've also added a dry coral branch). A tomato clownfish, a banded coral shrimp, a handful of snails and hermits, and a green leather toadstool coral (very small). Lots of bristle worms. Everyone is much happier since I cleaned it out.

I'm going to be eventually expanding into a 55-gallon as finances allow. I tend to be more into invertebrates than fish (I also breed freshwater dwarf shrimp and freshwater snails), so not sure yet what I'll be stocking it with.

Anyway, that's me. Darn glad to be here.

I'm Lisa. Welcome! Glad you joined.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID). You'll enjoy looking back at how far you've come (already even - but know great things are in store for you!)

This might help you find people local to you in Washington:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
