So I've been meaning to create a build thread, tank was purchased in December and was up and running early January of this year. Was purchased as a christmas present for my father, we used to have a 90g acrylic growing up but have been out of the hobby for 10+ years. This was a way for us to get back into it and also introduce my two year old son to the fastest way to drain your bank account known to man. (excluding significant others with amazon accounts of course)
4 months into it, I have decided that the swings in water parameters and the limitations on livestock in a smaller tank were not something that fit into my goals long term for an aquarium so I'm pulling the plug on the 170 and have an SCA 100g being shipped out. The guys over at safetop lids (shout out to Fabio for the amazing customer service and Jared who is great also) who were making me what would have been a really awesome lid for what was to be a really special reefer, are now putting that on hold and are going to be making a new one for the 100g.
Since we have a kessil a360x on the 170 currently, I'm going pick up a second and maybe eventually add a couple t5 tubes in a hybrid mount if needed later on depending on how well the coral is doing. 36 inch Bashsea smart sump is on the way. I will be building a custom stand for the setup, finalizing a design and I will create a new build thread to document the process of setting up the new tank next month from start to finish. We rushed getting the 170 up and even though we ended up with something I was happy with, mistakes were made, money was wasted and I aim not to repeat those mistakes on the upcoming build.
Here is an equipment list of what we are currently running in the 170 with some pictures and what will be transferring to the new tank.
-Reefer 170 Max-E rear sump w/ optional cabinet sump
-Kessil a360x (replaced the hydra 26 that it shipped with, one of the reefers on the forums here is now making use of the hydra however)

Here are some pics of the 170 from the last few months. From two weeks in and the first algae bloom to this past week with the new frags from Chaos and SD that just came in for the new tank. Also putting up some models of the 170 I sent out to safetop for the lid that was never to be made. I will do the same thing when the new tank gets here to make sure that the piece of art they send me fits nicely in its new home above the 100g.
Stay tuned for the SCA build thread, I will do my best to document everything from start to finish to share with you all.
