GRO Refugium Light question

I'm thinking about picking up one of these fixtures, but I don't use a Neptune controller.
I've read they can be used as a stand alone refugium light.
Is there a app or program with these or just a standard timer?

Even a simple wifi plug could be used as the timer. Of course you can start without a timer (24 hours of light) and see how it goes first.

Did this last month and used a simple intermatic timer. Does the job.
