Grocery Store Roasted Nori vs. Pet Store Marine Algae

I was wandering through the grocery store the other day and picked up a pack of "Roasted" Nori. It didn't have any listed additives or flavors and it looked exactly the same as the algae sheets that you buy at the pet store. It was $3 for 10 large sheets of it which would be less than half the price of what I pay at the pet store. I decided to give it a try and the fish attacked it just like they do the pet store brand. Only difference I could come across was that garlic was added to the pet store brand. I'll admit I slacked a little on feeding the Nori but still I've been adding it 2 or 3 times a week like I always have. The other day my lawn mower blenny looked so thin that I thought I was about to lose him. This isn't a new fish that won't eat in a new tank, I've had him for 4 years and he eats out of my hand if I feed him that way. I was wondering if this store bought Nori was missing something that the pet store brand had?

Anyone have experience with the grocery store brand?

I get mine at the Asian grocery. Never had a problem with it.

I don't know what it is, I've tried it twice with my tang and it just will not eat the stuff from the grocery store. Finally broke down and bought some in bulk from Marine Depot last time I ordered.

I'm not having any problems with the fish eating it. Even my clowns pick at it and if a larger chunk breaks off my watchman goby eats it. I've never been a real heavy Nori feeder so I thought it was odd that my blenny was so thin after all these years.

its the same stuff as what you get from your lfs as long as it doesnt have any additives like sesame oil

I get roasted Nori super cheap,no additives,All my fish eat it as well as any Saltwater fish intended algae Ive tried,which I think hasbeen all.All fish look great.Been feeding for 2 years.20 large sheets for 3 bucks.Im going to keep feeding it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It doesn't have anything added to it according to the label. I bought some of the pet store kind and I'm keeping it on a clip 24/7 trying to save the blenny. He's starting to fatten up so when I get done with this pack I'll try the grocery store brand again and see if he gets thin again. I don't guess he will though after reading your posts here. Thanks.
