Ground Probe

So I bought a titanium ground probe for my tank from BRS and was wondering if I could plug it into an open outlet on one of my EB8's.

If not I will have to get a UPS, move one or both EB8's to the UPS, then plug the ground probe into the wall outlet to the sump.

It's ok to have in the sump right?

Any plug with 3 holes to plug into has a ground.. its the middle one just below the two, that is the ground. As long as you have semi-modern wiring with copper wires, your outlets will be grounded.

As for where to put it most of the voltage will come in via the sump so that is a good place but a lot have two and put the other in the display also.

So is it ok if I plug it into an open outlet on my EB8 which is plugged into my wall outlet which is grounded?
House is new....all new wiring.

yes the eb8 is grounded and the ground would continue to the outlet and to the ground pole in the ground for the house

This is a query for @Brew12 .

Ideally you want to utilize a grounding probe along with GFCI.....but let Brew explain.....I'm prejudice.

This is exactly correct. You can plug the ground probe into any 3 prong outlet anywhere in your house. Even if you use GFCI. A spare outlet on the EB8 is a waste of a control outlet imo, but it will work just fine.

This maybe a dumb question but
Will the ground probe work of the outlet is turned off?
