If i stick my finger in the water with a ground probe plugged in i get a zap on a cut while walking on concrete barefoot.
If i stick my finger in without the ground probe, and walking bare foot on concrete i dont feel a zap.
So is the ground probe somehow electrifying the tank and traveling through me?

Tank voltage 6.9 volts

First thing I would do is stop touching it with bare feet.

How old is the house? Does it have a good ground. You might want have an electrician double check the ground. GFCI?

I have it on a gfci. The house is 40 years old.

It could be the ground has become disconnected/corroded. In your breaker box the ground and common share the same rail. I would definitely have an electrician look at this. It's not only a danger in your tank but could be elsewhere in the house.
