Have you tested for stray voltage using a volt/multimeter?
If not and you have advancing HLLE then yes, you should check and or get a grounding probe.

My scopas tang had HLLE before I added a grounding probe a year ago.
Problem is, he still has it. It has not gotten any worse, but also hasn’t gotten any better.

For me it did nothing. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Hopefully it will do something for you.

A grounding probe will stop the progression if stray voltage is the root cause.

However, you usually have to feed vitamin soaked foods to help the fish heal. Or actually using miracle mud is the best method for reversing HLLE. It's theorized that one or more of the minerals/trace elements the mud contains (and leaches into the water) is largely responsible.
