So I had the idea to do a group thread tracking growth of a common acro. I picked red planet because it is both common, colorful, and most importantly i have it ;) So I was thinking we all cut a 1/2in frag of red planet from our colonies (I understand this will not be perfect) mount it on a plug and see who's grows the most over a month and under what lights/high, low or medium light/water parameters/ high, low, or medium flow/ and feeding or not feeding corals in the tank. Anyone in? if not enough people have red planet we can try something more common like birds nest but that's just no fun to me. what can i say i love my acros :) If we can get a few people together to try this we can pick a date to all cut our frags.

Ill play! But I cant play exactly how you want lol. I accidentally fragged a piece of my red planet 2 days ago. It just so happens to be right at half an inch! (I think, ill measure it shortly). Its been mounted for 2 days on a plug on my frag rack. Its under a kessil a350w and t5s.

Post a picture when you get a chance! Since I was planning to track it over a month anyway you will just be a little ahead:)

First pic does not represent its true color, but its a good representation of its size. It hasnt encrusted at all yet.

Second and third photos show it on the frag rack next to other corals. Its the bottom middle coral.

Fourth and fifth photos are the frag that it was accidentally fragging from.

Okay so I just purchased some red planet so I guess I will play. It's part of my first 6 or 7 sps so it won't be much and I think it's a little over a half inch. Not very encrusted yet.

Oh, mine is under all LEDs, it's a high-medium light and flow, parameters = Ca - 450, Alk - 10dkh, Mag - 1450, nitrate and phosphate - 0, but I have some algae growth so I think there is some of both.

Pic:)

The first is for size reference. It's closer to 3/4 an inch, but it's what I got. The second is to show how much it's encrusted. The third is placement in the tank(18" tank).
