Just took this photo of my Co Co Worm. (He retracted right before the photo) Overnight there is a new section of tube. Not seen this since I got it. Does it happen that fast? Does it form inside the tube and then "slide" out? Just curious. I looked online and all I could find is that it does secrete the tube and that they are "difficult" to care for. No problems with this one and I guess growth is a good sign it is doing well?

I've noticed mine grows pretty quickly. Also as a side note, they're considered difficult because they do need phyto and organic liquid foods (according to LA) in order to survive. Not sure how much research you've done, but I would look into that a bit more.

Hmm. The LFS I bought from (where I get most of my livestock) said they were low maintenance and didn't need special feeding. He's been a reef keeper and in the business over 20 years. I'm still a "newbie". Since the tube is growing and it looks and acts healthy, I guess whatever I'm doing is not hurting it.

That said - what is "phyto"? And what classifies as "organic liquid foods"? And who/what is "LA"? Thanks!

Google green phyto algae there's many different brands, and forms. Some people on here grow and harvest it you might be able to find some cheaper

I know what you mean, I'm pretty new to this forum as well only been running saltwater since January tho some some of the things these guys are talking about blow my mind

Sorry about the abbreviations! Once you get them down, it's hard to stop. LA is LiveAquaria. It's an online store that also has pretty good information. A lot of people in this hobby trust it and it has a pretty good reputation.

Also, I was told the same thing by my LFS about my coco worm. Once I did my own research, I learned otherwise. There are a lot of people that have been in this hobby for a very long time, doesn't mean they are always right. On top of that, we are gathering new information all the time. So might have been true 20 years ago, doesn't mean it's still true now. Just something to think about as you move forward in this hobby.
