Growing coraline, and only coraline

I've been considering setting up rubbermaid tubs to grow coraline on aquascapes without any livestock. Assuming I stocked the tank with bateria and kept that alive by feeding ammonia occasionally would the nutes from that plus light and regular water changes be enough to sustain the coraline?

Buy some dead rock a few damsels and create dead/live coralline encrusted rock.
I do this in my sump now.
No pests and people would buy it.
I would bet you could not keep it in stock.
I get real dead live rock that has no life on it and have created some nice pieces.

I started this nano 10 days ago with said rock that had been in my frag tank and sump for the last 2 years. Even have some of the heavy purple painted rock, not caribsea, that is fully uncrusted, and you cant see the purple paint.

It needs a lot less light than you think.

Nah I knew it didn't need much light.

heh yeah, actually a it more heat than I'd normally run in a tank.

Yes but heavy 6500K halides will grow it fast and heavy.
I ran my frag systwm with an Ushio 7K halide and had to remove it as coral and coralline growth was amazing.

Don't see why not. Just seems like you would have not much of the rock lit in a tub? Maybe if its one of the wider tubs. Keep the water heated and moving too, probably goes without saying. What if you end up with the rocks facing the wrong way when you actually scape?

Nice just rotate the rock every few weeks. I have tried to get a local lfs to do it but no interest.
I even offered the 600 watt ballasts, bulbs and reflectors.
The quality of rock you could produce is so much better than white rock.
Also with coralline rock the uglies are significantly reduced.
