In the past I have let certain corals grow on the back glass and overflow. The main reason was to avoid having to clean hard to reach places and it looks pretty cool.
I am debating putting green star polyps on the overflow box in my 180. I am wondering what everyone’s else’s thoughts are on this? Have you done it and do you like it?

We'll bring @DSC reef into the conversation. I think they have green star polyps on the overflow. Might have some more insight for you :)

I grow GSP as well as a couple different monti species on my overflow. Its never caused me any issues and I like the color splash it provides.

It is good to hear many others do this also. I guess I was wondering if it would take away from the sense of depth?? I know I will not be able to keep the overflow box perfectly clean though and I like the look of corals over just algae.
