Can someone help identify this growth on my blue maxima clam. Currently the size just under the size of a penny. Thanks in advance...

Sponge or Tunicate.

I know this is a little off topic and I apologize for that. How long have you had your clam? what do you do to keep it up and alive? Wife and I want one and they are super exspensive.

Its a Limpet. Reef safe herbivore that feeds on algaes

I hate when little critters are on one of my clams, personally I would tweezer it off and put it in my sump. If it's a cleaner of some type than it can clean downstairs

I myself am getting back into the hobby. Its the first clam I've owned however in doing some reading for sizes larger than 4" there is little to do to take care of the clam. At this size you will have to spend some money however. From what I understand is to have a good light source mod-low flow and don't allow numbers to change much to quickly. At that size you don't have to worry about feeding because it retrieves what it needs from the water it filters itself. Please anyone else correct me if I am wrong
