Growth off of snail

What are these pointy growths off of this snail?? Also noticed them growing at base of a few frags as well.

Those are vermetid snails. Just crack them off. I scrape the base off with my finger nail.

Are they easy to crack off? I haven't encountered them, I'm just curious. Would a scraper be more effective than the finger nail?

Some you can grab with your fingers and crack if they aren't too curled in shape or too large. Otherwise you can grab some pliers or tweezers. I'm sure one could use a scraper if they need to... It's not exactly difficult, so that I never thought to restrategize my plan.
