Hi everyone.. I have been monitoring my blasto lately and have noticed it has a growth coming out from one of its side and I am wondering if this is a pest I need to remove, or part of normal growth for this coral. I also notice some stringy substance that almost looks like spider webs that forms around this coral. Any info or advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Looks like a Vermetid snail or feather duster. Pics of the ‘spider web’ would help. I would suggest immediate removal in either case. I love the small feather dusters on my rocks but I do not tolerate them on my corals :)

It does look like a vermatid snail although a closer photo with some whiter lights would help confirm. Do some googling and if that looks like a match then remove it from the tank and but a dab of super glue over the end of the tube or try and break the tube off (out of the tank) and super glue over the area where it was. You certainly don't want those to spread through your tank, those webs they emit can irritate your corals.

Thank you for the reply! Okay I’ll make sure to remove this ASAP.. I am posting pictures of the “spider web” too.

Almost definitely verm snail. I use bone cutters to snip them off (outside tank) rinse in saltwater (then dump that saltwater down the drain) and superglue over the area to prevent them coming back, rinse again in new water then replace in tank. I’ve got a rock full of the dead tubes and it HURTS to pick it up because all the calcified tubes are very sharp and stabby-stabby.
