Growth on live rock

I noticed a piece of rock with a strange looking white growth, slick to the touch with some tubular like things sticking out. It coverd the whole piece of rock in an area with very little light hitting it. I took the rock out and scrubbed it off but now I am concerned something is wrong. No I didn't take a picture. Too compulsive! Maybe someone can tell me what it is with my description ?

A reaction to bio plastics? This really bothers me, my parameters are in line , tank is healthy.

Likely a sponge which is beneficial and a good sign of your tank becoming mature. I wouldn't worry about it next time.
