Has anyone done any measuring of growth rates for acans in captivity?
I have had several in my tank for several months and while the sps's and monti's show growth the acans don't.
They still open up beautifully everyday its just that I don't see new polyp growths.
Should I feed them more often than once a month?
On another note anyone witness how these corals seem to enjoy the addition of kalkwasser? How about Logol's solution?
Why? When ever I add these two elements(not together or at same time) my acans open up twice the size.
Would like to hear anyone's thoughts on these two things.
Thanks,
Juan

i have bout 9 different acans.. and i feed mine every couple of days and they grow pretty fast.. always popping up new baby polyps.... and the more you feed them the fatter the polyps get.. mine all have really big heads...

I feed my acans a few times a week.
I'm very suprised to hear that your SPS is growing faster than your acans.

How are your calcium/alk levels?

I have all sorts of acans. I target feed mine too. I can say some grows fast and some grow slow even with feeding.

I recently got a small colony from LFS and there are two heads that are seriously the size of half dollars! I will try to take some pics and post.

Back to the topic regular feeding, lighting and a stable tank are keys to growth.

K good. Just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. I've been feeding frozen mysis, frozen cyclopeeze and frozen Rod's food.

A regimen of feeding every other day and rock solid stable water conditions has provided me with a reasonably fast growth rate
