Recently added a BTA to my 35 gallon reef and he is having a few issues. I'll post pics and parameters tomorrow but here is what I can provide now:
- Introduced 2 days ago and looked good at LFS
- Put in front lower part of the tank, good flow passing overhead
- Moves to a cave and retracts grip, I guess he was trying to float off, so I help him out and put him back on his rock
- Moves a few inches to the right, nudged in between some rocks, this area has very little flow, the only coral I have nearby is some garbage zoa colony, is kinda retracted most of the time
- Oral disc not very big, but bigger than normal, underside of basal disk still sticky but seems to have loose grip on rock (He is wedged between rocks, I stuck my finger behind and lightly felt the disk)
- While feeding the tank (A mixture of reef roids, phytoplankton, zooplankton, and sun dried brine shrimp chunks) I made sure to give him a bit of spot feeding attention too, but he didn't really seem interested (yesterday)
Is this common behavior, if not, any ideas as to the problem? I introduced an electric flame scallop at the same time and he looks great, still flashing and waving tentacles around (I was under the impression they were more delicate than an anemone too).
My theories so far (I'm new to anemones, this is my first)
- A member of the CUC is bothering him (maybe my now huge emerald crab, I'm thinking of removing him but this will be the third that has grown too big) (I doubt it, my CUC is pretty docile)
- The change in water
- Something is wrong in my water quality
- He has yet to adjust to where everything is in the tank
Thanks for any advice

He crawled over to another side of the tank today, is sitting by my zoanthid/shroom rock (he'd better not march over all them). Still looking unhappy, I hope he adjusts soon.

He's still grumpy, has yet to find a place he likes and has just moving around the tank sandbed looking around.
