Hi everyone,

Just wanted to see if others have found their GSP getting chewed up at some point? I came home after a week long trip and found it this way. Granted when I got it a week and a half ago, it was only carpet so it is still growing.

Any pests/nudis/etc that you can ID on or around the GSP that may be the culprit? Could be water parameter issue as well...although those things are pretty hard to kill.

None that I know of, last a saw a conch looked like he was trying to clean it, so I assume he’s the culprit. Should I just stack some egg crate below it?

Inconclusive from the picture. Try upping the whites, but yah, it does look that way. Got any Peppermint Shrimp in there? They can be troublesome if not getting enough to eat. Banished from my tank forever after they destroyed 4 new Acan heads. GSP is pretty bulletproof and you’ll be glad you isolated it. Check out my post on nanoreef titled “GSP growth - 10 weeks” in the Coral Forum.

Ah ha. Whelks are never a welcome visitor to coral tanks.
