I don’t know if my GSP is on its way out or not. It’s rarely fully open anymore. I was told as long as the gray-purple mat is still in tact it’s still alive. Is this correct?

To give some context it’s a 75 gallon where I run a AquaMaxx 1.5, a HOB fuge with chaeto, and a HOB filter with Chemipure and poly filter pad. Is this too much for a nutrient-loving coral like this? I have pulsing Xenia with the same issue.

If both pulsing xenia and GSP aren’t happy, then I would think the parameters aren’t okay. What are they ? Are you doing water changes ?

Sometimes in a new tank all it takes is regular water changes to keep corals happy. 8%-10% per week is enough. Start with a bigger one now then do smaller ones once a week.

Yeah we would really need to know params. before we could know what is going on. Tank could be too new not enough nutrients. Also your filtration is definitely not too much for a 75. It just depends on how long your Fuge light runs. If Fuge runs too long it could bottom out your nitrates and phosphates.

Thats a lot of filtration and the pic looks very clean, I would guess low on nutrients in the water. Corals need some measurable amount of phosphate and nitrate.
