GSP going berserk. Any suggestions?

completely unrelated to OP, but man is that meteor shower cool! Lol will it grow along the sandbed? or will it do ok on an isolated rock?

My guess is it will do fine on an isolated rock as long as it has good flow, light, etc. My second guess is that if it covers the rock, it will start plating over the sand bed. However, this would likely make for easy fragging.

I have a small rock that is in the sand bed (usually completely under actually) and it still lives. It has not grown out on to the sand but with it being completely covered the majority of the time, conditions are far from ideal so I couldn't say definitively that it wouldn't.

If you don’t care about fragging it, it will grow on your back wall just fine as well! This is a couple months ago, it’s already 50% larger.

GSP is in the same family as BCP (Blue Clove Polyp). You can eliminate it with Fenbendazole. I can tell you that after treating my tank for BCP, any GSP that I had left in the tank is no longer there.

I just got GSP last week and glued it to the overflow box, it has its own area to spread and I'll cut it back when it gets closer to the water inlets. I was warned ahead of time about the spreading of GSP, so I felt the overflow box will look good covered plus easier to keep GSP isolated from the rock and taking over.
Agree that the meteor shower looks great, I got a frag of that about a month ago, looks great but growth has been slow. I have a rock ready and waiting should that one start to get out of control

LOL. Not a chance. I think the whole fish thing irritates her a bit. At one point we had 5 aquariums in an 800 sqft house.

I've come to your rescue Ha! I know the perfect solution for keeping gsp and even ugly zoas in check... Aiptasia X! With all the flow off for above 5-10 mins, squirt the aiptasia x on the parts you don't want. Within a few days you'll see it die off. I use this method ALL the time. As you can see by my tank the gsp is abundant and must be kept in check

With all the flow off for above 5-10 mins, squirt the aiptasia x on the parts you don't want. Within a few days you'll see it die off. I use this method ALL the time. I was just about to say aiptasia x if all you want to do is control it’s spread.

Nice. May have to give that a whirl. It won’t affect the other corals? I don’t want to kill it all off, just want to get it isolated again.

It will only kill what it lands on in the 1st 30 seconds or so.

Exactly what HB AL said... it will only kill what it lands on. Even when the flow is back on and particles are floating around I've never had a problem with any of my corals, clam, inverts, fish, etc. I use aiptasia x about once a month because i also do have a small aiptasia problem. I kill those, the gsp that's spread into unwanted places, and a kill a few ugly zoas that like popping up in my colonies.
