GSP (green star polyp) placement for minimal encroachment

Hey guys I have a GSP on the way and was looking for any last advice from this who’ve had/has one. I will isolate it, however I have been told the may go over sand to glass/more rock. How would I cut it and do I need to move my island further out?....

60gallon new mixed reef. First saltwater tank

My first answer was outside of the tank lol...

But your island looks far enough away, it will mat onto the sand and you can just cut it away in time.

it will definitely climb on glass, don't think it will on sand. You'll be able to just peel it off so don't worry too much.

Looks like a fine spot!

It will grow over the sand and reach out but you should be able to keep up with trimming and be fine. It will also grow under sand so be careful and check around the island for growth.

5-6" without anything around to grab onto. I agree though once it spreads you will wish you placed it outside the tank. sump is another good option.

It certainly will. Nothing stops GSP. Give it a couple of months. Covered my 4 inch x 2 inch rock in like 3-4 months.

Agree with all of the above. It won't "jump" to nearby structures. Where your island is you would have to ignore it for a while before it bridges the gap. Do be diligent in keeping it under control.

This was my GSP island that my Yasha's goby lived under.

And this is a tank at one of my LFS's that let it get out of control!
