GSP growing white vines?

I've had it for about a month. Usually it's all opened up, but today only half is and I can see it growing on the base.

Haven't changed the water for a few days.

Are these vine like growths normal? I can't find a picture of it anywhere.

I have it glued to two suction cups that are on the glass.

Honestly my guess is that is a sponge growing out from under the GSP and as it grows the GSP starts to grow over it. . .

Looks cool as hell though!

Be careful not to let it get to the rockwork if you don't want it covering everything. I made that mistake with my first tank.

Interesting. I tried looking up pictures of GSP growing and couldn't find any similar to this.

So did I. Then a little piece got missed and floated to a spot I didn't see. Another area crept behind some rocks and went unnoticed

Any piece missed while trimming will land and grow elsewhere. Once on your rocks, it's not easy to get it all. Sticks like velcro. Mine started in an area you can't see in the tank. By the time I noticed, a complete tear down of the rock work would have been necessary.
