Alk 9.0 Cal 420 mag 1400. All the SPS and LPS doing great. The only thing I changed was the two part I stopped baking my baking soda. The PH went from 8.1 to 8.3. Almost embarrassed to ask this considering this is the easiest coral to keep. Should I start baking again to drop my PH. Are they sensitive to higher PH? Whats the longest your gsp have hibernated?

Mine closed up for a week between water changes. Also I moved it down on its own rock to the sand bed in the left corner. I also killed my white light down to 3% on my AI Prime HD and it along with my other coral have been doing great.

Hope this helps!

Was it just added to your tank or have you had it a while? I've never had mine do it for longer than a day. It must not be liking something in the water. I did give a big chunk to a friend with just some t8 lights and it never really opened for him in months and when it did the polyps were very small and eventually just withered away. If water is prestine then maybe it's not getting enough light.

Mine does this sometimes. I wouldn’t stress to much as mine always ends up opening again. I personally don’t ever chase my ph. I can have it anywhere from 7.9 to 8.3. Never affects any of my corals.

Thanks for the suggestions. New piece maybe a month in the tank. A large rock with Purple mushrooms and GSP. great color combo when the gsp was open. I think I'll just increase flow and leave everything alone. It's in the far corner but under 250 watt Halide lights.

mone closed like that for about 12 days. then reopened about twice as big.
