GSP on back wall...good idea or no way

Mine is covering about 1.5 m2 so it is big colony. This pictures are taken month ago and now gsp passed half of tank so i guess one more year and it will full cover up.

This is the GSP now growing on the backwall of my 180 gallon. Backwall is 42 x 24.

Had GSP on the overflow, was very easy to maintain as you just peel it off. I say go for it.

I had both GSP and Xenia growing on the back wall at one time. The GSP will peel off in sheets if you get tired of it. The Xenia was easy to remove because it grew over the coralline algae which I just scraped off.

Well the way I see it if anything is left unchecked it can become unmanageable. It doesn't matter if it is GSP, Xenia, or any other coral. Sort of like me leaving the pantry door open and my German Shepherd out of her crate while I run an errand. While I would get the normal happy greeting that always brings a smile to my face I couldn't be mad when her box of treats is empty and she has a smile a mile wide... Training and opportunity sometimes equal temporary bad manors and treats are consumed

Similar if we don't prune our corals So....the moral of the story is this. If you are good at tank maintenance and will do the right then then my personal opinion is go for it. It will add a splash of color to the tank. If you don't do GSP and use something else then again go for it. Just remember nothing shouldn't be left unattended or ignored. If you put it there and it grows somewhere in time it may become a issue.

I have a test patch of gps on my overflow. I think is looks nice ! I will glue some more pathes on the back glass soon . Mine hasn't gotton out of control in any way. I agree every tank is different .

I have a 150 gallon with one side being the sump, separated from the rest of the tank with a black acrylic pane. I have glued a frag of gsp on this panel, away from the nearest rock and it looks really nice and brightens things up

Mine grew from the rock that was placed up against the glass. Don't glue it just place the frag up against the glass and the GSP will grow onto it. The stuff grows like a weed, I would pull mats off the back glass.

super glue and epoxy, just like I stick rocks and corals

Hold it in place with a magnet like the small ones you clean nano glass with. When it starts growing remove the magnet.

Comes off my glass intact, as a sheet, using scraper edge.
Cut in squares, glue to plug.....so not permanent.

To control GSP, use Red Sea's Aiptasia-X along the edge of the mat. Kills it off for 3-4 months.
