Hello!

I recently moved and downgraded my tank size (last oct 1st).
I fragged some GSP from the glass of the old tank to recarpet the back glass of my new tank just as I had in my old tank.
It all attached down well and covered the plugs well so I glued a bunch along the bottom of the back glass and from there, most of them started to grow up onto the glass and have been rocketing up, the largest has grown around 4" up the glass.

I started to notice an issue with one 3-4 weeks back, it started to peal away from the glass at its growing tips, I thought nothing much of it since it was just one but over the last few weeks every single one has started to do the same with most now half pealed off or more. I did try to cut one with a razor down a little and remove the top part so it had no unattached edge thinking maybe flow was pulling them off more after maybe an edge lifting but it continued to do the same after a few days.

Has anyone had an issue like this before?

Yeah, GSP sticks better to glass if some kind of coraline algae or those little round snails have already grwon on the glass. If some other kind of algae or biofilm is on hte glass GSP doesn't stick very well and if the suff under it dies it may looks adhesion completely

That was my opinion also so I've been keeping the glass as clean as I could around them.

However, I think I've found the answer. The pic above was the best one left, around 1h after I took that pic I noticed the whole right side had peeled back and some more from the left side. the culprit is actually in the pic, it had moved over the GSP between taking the pic and finding it much worse. Typical ^^

I guess ill make some more frags up and get them growing again and just place a bunch a bit higher to start with.

I've also seen gsp "reach" with tendrils away from its substrate if it doesn't like what it's growing on. Usually not a problem and can lead to some incredibly interesting branching growth patterns
