Are there actually polyps on this frag?

I have quite a bit of GSP. That frag doesn't look too good. How long have you had it?

I have a very small piece. It does this from time to time. Usually when a critter crawls over it. It can be closed for a few minutes to a few days.

So I ordered it off eBay about a week ago and this is how it came in. Hasn’t been moved or opened up since. I’m almost convinced it’s empty

Looks like it may have some algae on it. Gently use a soft brush on it to clean it up. It may take some time for it to open up. As long as it's purple, it will come back.

Took a toothbrush to it. Got the algae like substance off. I noticed some little bugs crawling over it. Long skinny things. Should I be concerned?

Those are amphipods probably. They like hanging out at the base of gsp. When i agitate my gsp and get it to close (when trimming), i see hundreds of amphipods scattering for cover.

Update

Woke up today and the drag was floating around the tank in 3 pieces. No idea what happened.
